I came across the brand Mederma during our trip to Penang, Malaysia back in 2013. We had a motorbike accident and both our right leg were injured, but Mr. had a larger wound and he also got stitches and this is what the doctor recommended.
Why do you need it?
Right on the box, on the tube and on the paper, a sort of disclaimer is printed that this 'helps to visibly reduce scarring'. It’s even more detailed on the paper that’s inside that no product can make scars disappear completely unless you go thru surgery. So I knew right off the bat what to expect: that it will reduce redness, improve the color, texture and overall appearance making it nearly invisible; which is all ok in my book.
If you’ve heard of 'sebo de macho' which is quite famous in the Philippines, this is better, because you don’t have to wait for a year to see results. It comes in a greaseless transparent gel so you don’t have to worry about applying it to your skin.
How do you use it?
Use Mederma as soon as the wound is closed. Just massage it in the scar area at least twice a day. You have to be diligent in doing this and if used regularly, you’ll see improvement for at least 8 weeks on new scars and 3-6 months on existing scars; which we both saw.
AVAILABILITY: Lazada, Guardian, and Watsons. Check your local pharmacies.
Have you ever tried Mederma?
A few weeks ago, I got some blisters on my feet and used Mederma and it’s improving. The only downside is that it’s a little expensive, but I’m sticking to it because it works. Have you ever tried using Mederma? Are you on the hunt for something that would help reduce scars? Give it a go and tell me your experience!
